These are AI assistants embedded inside the general productivity tools a PM already uses for documents, spreadsheets, email, and chat — Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Notion — rather than tools built specifically for project management. Their strength for a PM is contextual drafting: turning a rough set of bullet points into a polished status report in Word, summarizing a Teams meeting recording automatically, generating a first-draft project plan from a short prompt, or building a quick tracking database in Notion without designing the schema by hand. Because these copilots sit inside tools an organization has typically already licensed for reasons unrelated to project management, the marginal cost of adoption is often lower than buying a dedicated AI PM platform — the tradeoff is that they know less about your specific project structure than a purpose-built PM tool would, so they're best used for communication and documentation work rather than as a system of record for tasks and schedules.
